MagGenome Horizontal Mini Electrophoresis Unit
MagGenome Horizontal Mini Electrophoresis Unit
Product Details
MagGenome offers a submerged mini horizontal electrophoresis system that are ideal for DNA gel electrophoresis. The DNA electrophoresis system can be used with ready agarose precast gels. Ideal for personal use, small laboratories or the classroom, this unit is compact and easy to use.
Gel electrophoresis is a method that separates macromolecules either Nucleic acids or proteins on basis of size, electric charge and other physical properties. The term electrophoresis describes the migration of charged particle under the influence of an electric field. “Electro” refers to the energy of electricity. “Phoresis” from the Greek verb phorōsmeans, “To carry across”. Thus, the electrophoresis refers to the technique in which molecules are forced across a span of gel, motivated by electric current.

(Not included in standard supply. To be ordered separately)
- Power supply
- Agarose in powder form
- Electrophoresis buffer, usually Tris-Acetate-EDTA (TAE) or Tris-Borate-EDTA (TBE).
- Sample DNA.
- Loading buffer, which contains something dense (e.g. glycerol) to allow the sample to “fall’ into the sample wells, and one or two tracking dyes, which migrate in the gel and allow monitoring or how far the electrophoresis has proceeded.
- Ethidium bromide, a fluorescent dye used for staining the nucleic acids.
- Micropipettes & Pipette-tips
